Dr. William V. Green
A Transformative Leader in Faith and Community

Dr. William V. Green is a distinguished ordained minister with more than 37 years of pastoral experience, who passionately serves diverse congregations in rural and urban settings. Currently, he leads the Tabernacle of Glory Church in Nashville, Tennessee, where he has nurtured a vibrant faith community for nearly two decades.
Under Dr. Green's visionary leadership, the Tabernacle of Glory has emerged as a dynamic hub for innovative ministry, and as a case study for churches seeking to thrive in the 21st century. He empowers congregations to discover their unique identity and purpose within their specific contexts and guides them toward meaningful engagement within their communities.
An advocate for a transformative approach to church life, Dr. Green emphasizes three core principles: Joining the Community; Enhancing Well-Being, and Mission Beyond Walls.
Dr. Green also contributes to academia as an Adjunct Instructor, Dean of Chapel and Program Director for a Small Town and Rural Congregations Initiative at American Baptist College in Nashville, TN. He has contributed to the academic program developing two courses for the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE) accreditation: "Biblical Faith Rooted Justice" and "Six Holy Currencies: We Do Theology." These courses, designed for first-year students, aim to provide spiritual formation and practical theology applicable in both church and marketplace settings.
As the architect of the MARLOT Congregational Science Process, Dr. Green has developed a missional, adaptive, and transformational model that drives engagement among congregational stakeholders. This innovative framework enhances resilience by cultivating collaborative learning and shared wisdom. Recently, his approach has garnered a significant $2 million grant from The Lilly Foundation, focusing on leadership coaching, congregational development, and community engagement.
In addition to his pastoral and academic responsibilities, Dr. Green serves as the Team Development Coach for the African Methodist Episcopal Church Finance Team. His multifaceted roles also extend to life coaching, motivational speaking, and providing spiritual guidance to parishioners and community members, as well as fostering partnerships that enhance both individual and communal well-being.
A Catalyst for Growth and Connection in Faith
Dr. William V. Green leverages his personal background, education, and extensive experience to seamlessly integrate Christian principles with social impact science and the 12-Step Recovery model. With nearly two decades of recovery from alcoholism, he understands that life is shaped by a unique blend of changes, chances, choices, and challenges—elements that may arise from human default or divine design. Dr. Green believes that the grace of God provides solid mentoring, sound therapy, and supernatural support to navigate life’s complexities.
Known as a “pastor of pastors,” Dr. Green has established relationships with church leaders nationwide and is sought after as a preacher and practitioner of faith, thereby extending his influence beyond Sunday mornings.
Dr. Green earned a bachelor's degree from American Baptist College in Bible Theology with a minor in Philosophy. He also earned a master's degree in Christian Ministry from Malone University of Canton, Ohio, and a Doctor of Ministry degree in Congregational Development from Bexley-Seabury Seminary in Chicago, IL.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Green was raised by a single mother and has been married to Faye Yvette Green for 37 years, a partnership that enriches both his personal and professional life. They have two adult children.
