Over its 137-year history, 19 pastors have led the congregation. Among the notable leaders were Rev. R.D. Black, Rev. A.W. Phillips, Rev. J.W. Evans, Rev. John Campbell, Rev. Michael Graves, Rev. Rev. Oscar Myles, Rev. Leroy Peterson, and Rev. Roderick C. Pounds. The current pastor of TTOGC is Rev. Dr. William V. Green.
Congregants have assembled in four locations in south Nashville. The first church-owned building was built on Peabody Street in 1907 and housed the congregation until it moved to Division Street in the 1950s. Because of urban renewal, the church was forced to relocate again. Members of the church marched from Division Street to 945 S. Douglas Avenue in 1969. The congregation worshipped at 945 S. Douglas Ave. until 2019.
The continuous nature of The Tabernacle of Glory congregation represents the legacy of people who sacrificed financially to obtain and maintain three church properties. Because of changes in the surrounding community and trends of the twenty-first century where church attendance and membership became low priorities among many individuals., the Tabernacle of Glory had to rethink how it would sustain and adapt its practices to remain relevant and engaging.
